LEARNING ABOUT THE GLORY OF GOD

LEARNING ABOUT THE GLORY OF GOD

There are three things that I want you to focus on today concerning the glory of God.

First…What is the glory of God?

Second…Walking in the glory of God.

Third…How to unlock the mystery of Gods glory.

2 Corinthians 4:6-7    For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

Revelation 22:5   And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

During the millennial reign the light source will be from Gods glory.

John 1:1-8   1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

Genesis 1:3-5   And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

He gives the light of knowledge of His glory that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ through us.

This precious treasure, this light and power that now shines within us, is held in a perishable container. Which is our weak and frail bodies.

Before Jesus came, we had no way of knowing the glory of God or the fulness of God.

John 1:14-17   14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ

John is saying we have received his fulness by grace through faith. The law of Moses was to let us realize that we needed a savior and Jesus fulfilled that by grace and truth. We did not have grace until Jesus came.

John 2:11   11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

In the beginning of Jesus’ miracles his glory was manifested. Jesus was demonstrating supernatural power over natural things.

The message of salvation in Christ Jesus has been entrusted by God the father to frail and fallible human beings.

Gods power dwelling in us, even though we are weak. God uses us to spread the gospel, and He gives us power to do his work, our responsibility is to let people see God through us.

What is the glory of God?

Gods glory is the manifested presence of God in us through Christ Jesus, His resurrected son: made manifest in our life by faith through the Holy Spirit.

The hope of glory is Christ the anointed one in us… Gods own son. When the Glory of God departed from them, they became naked. They were clothed in Gods glory until they sinned.

Romans 5:1-2   5 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Keep in mind the two-sided reality of the Christian life, on one side we are complete in Christ Jesus, and our acceptance with him is secure, on the other hand, we are growing in him and becoming more and more like him, but we still have to deal with the soul and body and the devil.

We feel both the presence of Christ and the pressure of sin. We enjoy the peace that comes from being made right with God, but we still face daily problems that help us to grow.

Second… walking in the glory of God.

Ephesians 1:16-18   16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

Honor and Glory are in God’s presence.

Romans 8:18   18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

What we suffer now is nothing compared to the Glory he will give us later.

Romans 6:14   14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Sin will never again be our master; we are free under Gods favor and mercy through grace.

Because of Gods mercy and grace, sin can not have dominion over us. Because of Gods glory under grace sin can’t stay in the presence of Gods glory. That is why when Jesus was dying on the cross he was taking in himself our sins and since sin cant stay in Gods glory, God had to turn away from Jesus.

Matthew 27:46   46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Today, we can’t walk in the very glory of God the father, because of sin in our life.

His own glorious presence would zap us off the face of the earth.

We all want Gods grace and Gods glory upon our lives, but God can not change us until we ourselves change first. When we are full of sin and disobedience Gods glory can not come on us for it will burn us up.

Romans 3:22-23   22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

We as believers are in His Glory thru Christ Jesus and the Holy Spirit. We can walk in the glory of God because of the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus, after we make him Lord of our life.

The glory of God or Gods presence flows thru Jesus. Giving life to the body, which is the believers or the church.

His life is the light that shines thru the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.

John 10:10   10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

We are supposed to be disciples of Christ. Just like the original twelve, somewhere between those disciples in Jesus’ time and the disciples “the believers” of today. It appears that at times we are mighty weak.

We don’t see very many disciples today raising the dead, casting out devils or healing the sick. It is hard to get people to even go to church.

Acts 5:15   15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

It goes to say, that At least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them that they might be healed.

Mark 16:15-18   15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

When Christ Jesus finished his work on earth, he sent the Holy Spirit to us to empower us with the same anointed power he had and gave it to the disciples.  We are to be doing the same things that the disciples did, because his word tells us to do just that.

John 14:12    12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Mark 5:34   34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

We are working under the divine anointed power of the Holy Spirit. Just as the disciples and Jesus did. There is only one power of the Holy Spirit.

Third … how to unlock the mystery of Gods glory.

Acts 5:15   15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

The church fails to understand that it wasn’t Peters shadow that healed them. It was the manifestation of God’s glory that surrounded him. The healing was the very manifestation of the presence of God himself in Peter.

That is why God put hope in us to expect the Glory, not just the healing.

God wants us to lift our expectations higher than that. He wants us to expect the glory. If we do that, we will have the rest.

There is healing in the Glory, there is finances in the glory. Everything you need is in the glory of God.

If believers had the revelation of the truth that the anointed one lives in us, we would act like a different church. The people are his church.

The word which is the revelation of Gods will, takes us into His Glory.

This won’t work on paper. It has to work inside of you. Remember the glory is the presence of God, in you, through Christ Jesus.

In other words, that warm glowing feeling that we get from the glory of God within us, is not of us.

God says the whole earth will be filled with His glory.

The word glory in Hebrew means… Heavy with everything good.

This actually means God is heavy with everything good that you could ever want or need.

Ezekiel 8:2   Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire; and from his loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the color of amber.

Here Ezekiel is describing the glory as the fire of God, The wind of God, the smoke of God and the fullness of God.

It’s all the glory of God, because the glory refers to the supernatural life and the very essence of God… the very power that makes Him God.

You might say that kind of awesome glory is reserved for God and God alone. But not according to the bible.

Psalms 8:5   For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honor.

Here the word is speaking of Adam. However, Adam lost his glory and Crown when he caused treason in the garden of Eden. Now mankind has to earn their crowns.

James 1:12   12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

This is telling us that in the beginning that man was crowned with that glory.

Do you know what it means to be crowned with his glory?

When God put his hand on Adam and Eve’s head and crowned them with His glory, he crowned them with His own presence.

It means to anoint or pour on. They began to shine just like God shines.

That is why they didn’t have to wear clothes. They were clothed with the glory of God.

But their glory was lost to mankind when Adam sinned.

Man, regained that glory by the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, by the Holy Spirit, and the same power in you in Christ Jesus.
