WALKING WITH THE SPIRIT

WALKING WITH THE SPIRIT

Romans 8:1-2   There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

This life-giving spirit is the Holy Spirit. he was present at the creation of the world, his is the power behind the rebirth of every Christian.

He gives us the power we need to live the Christian life. A Christian is anyone who has the spirit of God living in them.

If you have sincerely trusted Christ and chosen him for your savior and acknowledged him as Lord, then and only then does the Holy Spirit come and live within you. This is the information you need to know that you are a Christian if you have ever doubted if you are really a Christian.

The Holy Spirit is the one Jesus said would come, he is Gods promise of help and comfort.

John 14:1-4    Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

God quickens your spirit with the Holy spirit so that you may worship Him in the spirit. You are born of water and of the Holy Spirit.
The spirit is within us now by faith, by this faith we are certain to live with Christ forever.
We can now turn away from sins appeal by the Holy Spirit power within us, regarding sin as dead. The Holy Spirit gives us power to ignore temptation when it comes.
The Holy Spirit is our witness that we belong to God.
Psalms 140:13   13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.

His inward presence reminds us of who we are and encourages us with Gods love.
We are the Masters children. What a privilege.
God has already given us the best of His gifts: His Son, forgiveness of our sins and eternal life. He encourages us to ask him for whatever we need.

Philippians 4:19   19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:8-9   So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Let’s talk about the flesh. Even though you have made Jesus Lord of your life and died to self, we still live in a chaotic world and a body of sinful flesh. Until the rapture of the church (this refers to the body of Christ.) is resurrected and we receive our glorified bodies we need the Holy Spirit and his wisdom to put down our fleshly desires.

Ephesians 1:10-11   10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

We are in the flesh, but in the spirit, the spirit of God (the Holy Spirit) dwells in you. If any man has not the spirit of Christ, he is none of His.
If you are none of His, you are of the world system. The world is in bondage to death and decay.
Christians see the world as it is, physically decaying and spiritually infected with sin.
Christians do not need to worry because they have hope for the future of Glory.
They look forward to the new heaven and the new earth that God has promised.
They wait for Gods new order that will free the world of sin and sickness and all evil.
Christians go with Christ into the world where they heal the people’s bodies and souls and fight the evil effects of sin in this world.

Mark 16:15-18   15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

As a believer you are not left to your own resources to cope with problems. Even when you don’t know the right words to pray, the Holy Spirit prays with you and for you and God hears and answers.

We don’t need to be afraid to come before him. Ask the Holy Spirit to intercede for you in harmony with Gods own will.

Romans 8:14   14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

His Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts and tells us that we are Gods children.

Romans 8:28   28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

The Holy Spirit is the one that gives wisdom and direction to those called according to his purpose.
Our purpose a Christians is to preach the gospel, win souls for God and Glorify his Name.

Romans 8:11   11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

If you are saved, the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you to lead you, to guide you and to comfort you in your life with peace, joy, strength and love.

Stay in the word.
